My client is a Top 50 firm with national coverage, and significant real estate practice across commercial property, planning, construction, projects and real estate finance. They're looking to reinforce the Leeds team by bringing in possibly more than one lawyer with commercial development, infrastructure or energy experience, such a candidate most likely to be coming from a similar sized firm whereby they'll have been acting for large corporate and plc clients.

The quality of experience to date is really essential as that is the focus of work you'll be deployed on. This particular firm knows it can attract more commercial development work if they can get additional capability in the top half of the team. They also have panel places for a number of organizations in the energy, infrastructure and utilities space so can see opportunities nationally to capitalise on those relationships for more work.

Someone at Senior Associate or Legal Director would be easy to accommodate on technical competency alone. A Partner entry appointment would need you to have a bit more potency by way of track record in the market place if not some sort of client following even if that wasn't of huge value - just the fact that you had some clients who'd want to keep using you would be a valuable indicator of what you're about.
