Yorkshire Law Society Sponsorship
The Yorkshire Law Society Annual Dinner which Florit Brooke was delighted to be able to support, as sponsors, took place last Friday 20th November.
Held in the historic Merchant Adventurers Hall, some 120 guests and dignitaries enjoyed live music at the champagne reception, followed by dinner, magic from the amazing Matt Windsor (AKA Magic Matt), and speeches from Law Society president Jonathan Smithers, and the Yorkshire Law Society President Graeme Burn.
A broad cross section of the York legal community was represented with tables taken by firms including Grays, Crombie Wilkinson, Harrowells, Hethertons, Burn & Co, and Ware & Kay. The presidents charities this year were the Bubble Foundation (which provides care and equipment for babies and children born without an immune system) and Yorkshire Air Ambulance, both of which benefited from generous donations on the night. In terms of entertainment, Matt proved particularly adept at removing watches from wrists without detection. However, he was generous enough to return them to their rightful owners, which was a sensible choice given the audience!
Florit Brooke attendees Tony Brooke, Gemma Crossley and Andy Balmer were fortunate enough to share a table with a number of lawyers from Hague & Dixon and Crombie Wilkinson who were most hospitable. We’d like to thank those on our table for such an enjoyable evening and also Angela Reinholz for organising such a successful event.
Given the enthusiasm from the committee it is evident that the Yorkshire Law Society is well positioned to enjoy a high level of support in future years and so we hope to be involved with future events in 2016.
