The JLD FELT group Cocktail Masterclass held at Bar Soba, Leeds, last night was a prime learning opportunity for us, as sponsors.
FELT, the sub-set of JLD which caters to ‘firms with eight or less trainees’, comprises representatives from a cross section of Yorkshire firms including Genus, Gateley, Stewarts, Irwin Mitchell, Jordans, LCF Law, JWP, and the In-house team at Emis.
Given our shared love of cocktails, but with a minority of us admittedly not knowing a snowball from a screwball when it comes to mixing them up, we felt (no pun intended) we would certainly benefit from some tuition on the cocktail making front!
The evening saw us joined by around 30 equally curious JLD FELT members, to sample a Strawberry Crush drink on arrival, mixed by bar tender Scott, who went on to deliver ‘the knowledge’ on a carefully selected range of cocktails including the Caipirinha, Prosecco Spritz, a twist on the famous Bramble, as well as a welcome introduction to elderflower liqueur. As usual at Soba, Pan Asian street food was the order of the day and helped everyone soak up the ‘atmosphere’…
There was no shortage of willing volunteers when it came to mixing, pouring and shaking. Particularly worthy of note was the creation of Sophie Clague (LCF Law), whose Bramble-like concoction she was particularly quick to parade and even quicker to dispatch. High commendation too for Lois Monks (JWP) who consistently impressed from start to finish, without even so much as a spillage! Let’s hope that such dedication spilled over into Friday’s work agenda…!
The Florit Brooke ‘cocktail making team’ (Tony Brooke, Andy Balmer and Harriet Ullyott) had a great night and would like to thank all FELT members who attended and we are sure they would join us in offering special thanks to Cassandra Lumb for organising such a successful evening.
The Florit Brooke team look forward to being involved with future events in 2016/2017.
