Backgrounds we look to recruit from

  • Experienced Legal Recruiters: Yes please, we’re always happy to speak with someone who is already in our market.
  • Recruitment Consultants: We look for people with a successful track record in another executive recruitment business. No experience in the legal sector is necessary, so long as you have the enthusiasm to learn a new market quickly, with our help and encouragement. Backgrounds in finance, trademarks, sales, marketing, property, technology or human resources are the best fit for our business.
  • Legal professionals: If you’re a lawyer, the ideal background is a qualified solicitor at any level of PQE who has trained with a law firm and understands what drives lawyers, law firms and their clients. The ‘best fit’ is someone well networked and sociable who was always destined to be more ‘relationship builder’ than ‘technician’. If you’re up to 3 years qualified, your earnings could be at least double that of you contemporaries, once you’re up to speed.

We believe there are significant market opportunities for our business and we can only capitalise on those by growing the Brooke Thornham Consulting team – our clients want us to do more and we are keen to respond to that demand. Diversifying our client focus, and extending our geographical coverage are both high on our priority list, and we’ve a wealth of client connections to develop further if we can find the right people.

Core to our growth as a business is recruiting to the In-house legal market, where we’ve a massive contacts list across the North, and a bank of candidates with in-house skills and ambitions. The platform is here, but we need the right person to take on that market focus as their own responsibility. Our preference will be a recruiter who is already in a professional services field, be that legal or another sector, but certainly someone with a few years permanent recruitment experience and who is committed to high levels of service.

Our market demands someone who is well organised and meticulous in their attention to detail and to delivering a service with real accuracy and precision, so we want someone who is quality not quantity focused. Succeeding in commerce and industry needs someone keen to immerse themselves in business development, and who wants to grow a network and build a reputation for the long term, and having that drive to become a true subject expert on the in-house market is really important. Clients are spread across Yorkshire, the North East and North West and there’ll be no barriers to a consultant who wants to chase business or supply clients further afield. This represents an exciting opportunity in an interesting niche market which is doing well in the current economic climate, and where we’d hope to grow a small team in the coming years.
