In-house Real Estate Legal Roles surge in Leeds

Real Estate Surge

In-house Real Estate Legal Roles, and particularly senior ones, are generally quite rare – however, there is currently a surge of recruitment activity in the commercial property world at the moment, particularly in Leeds.

In-house Real Estate Legal Focus

We’re currently speaking to clients about 4 positions which suit lawyers with around 3 years PQE up to as many as ten or more.

One of our clients, a major landowner in the UK and internationally, is offering a rare 12 month fixed term contract role for a real estate development lawyer looking for their first taste of working as in-house legal counsel, on a number of development projects of high strategic importance.

To senior real estate lawyers in law firms who may have decided against pursuing partnership, and had perhaps given up on the prospects of finding an in-house real estate legal role, this will be a breath of fresh air. Working with other lawyers of a similar background and very closely with senior commercial property professionals up to board level, the individual will be well rewarded for delivering highly commercial in-house real estate legal advice and drafting, negotiating and conclude legal documents for real estate developments, including co-ordinating external lawyers on construction and planning matters.

A common theme in our clients’ requirements is that the ideal pool of candidates will be people who can demonstrate:

  • Excellent education and training at a leading law firm;
  • First class analytical skills and legal knowledge;
  • Commercial awareness and a practical, common sense approach;
  • An ability to assess and prioritise workload according to business needs; and
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the credibility to communicate effectively across all levels and functions of the business;

Although a good number of the roles we are currently arranging second interviews for are of an interim nature, there is a significant prospect of roles being made permanent in the future depending on merit and business case. Previous in-house experience is not required.
