This month marks a year since Florit Brooke became Brooke Thornham Consulting. And what a year it has been.
From my own personal point of view, 12 months of being the sole director of the business has been a steep learning curve, but the cliché is completely true and it’s the people who make a business. Having the support of a superb team as we’ve made the transition to Brooke Thornham and settled into our new identity has been invaluable.
Hitting key milestones
There are many milestones you can expect to see a one-year-old reach. For one, their weight is likely to have tripled. Now, I won’t deny that there have been team lunches as we’ve celebrated placements and achieved or renewed preferred supplier listings with some of the region’s most prestigious law firms. There may also have been a few cakes along the way. But I’m pleased to say that we have stayed in shape. And whilst out waistlines may not have expanded, we have grown in other ways, with the arrival of new faces to the team. It’s been fantastic to see those new team members settle in and have a real impact on the business.
Apparently, a 12-month-old’s brain will have grown to around 60% of its adult size. I’d like to think that the decade of working as legal recruiters before we made the switch to the Brooke Thornham brand gave us a head start here. That said, we’re never complacent. There’s always something new to learn and we are continually honing our knowledge and skills as a team.
Perhaps one of the most significant milestones associated with a one-year-old is seeing them find their feet. I’m happy to say that the Brooke Thornham brand has very much found its feet over this past 12 months, and I’m looking forward to building on the market position we have achieved. This is in no small part down to the team’s continued hard work and dedication, delivering a great service – often under pressure – and a commitment to maintaining ethical practices no matter how competitive our markets gets.
So, what’s in store for the next 12 months?
Well, as I posted on LinkedIn earlier this month, I’m looking forward to consolidating our market position and hopefully expanding our head count further over the coming months. I’m also keen to see us continue to secure the breadth of placements we’re achieving – on both sides of the Pennines, across the whole of the Yorkshire region and at all levels from newly qualified solicitors to partners.
I’m committed to making sure that we continue to ‘do the right thing’, acting in our clients’ best interests rather than our own. And so we will continue to value honesty over empty promises and focus on building lasting relationships rather than chasing revenue at all costs.
We’ve had a brilliant first year as Brooke Thornham Consulting. Huge thanks to everyone – our team, clients, candidates, partners and suppliers – who has contributed to that success, and here’s to many more years of success ahead.
Happy birthday to us!
