Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire
Marshalls is the UK’s leading hard landscaping manufacturer and has been supplying superior natural stone and innovative concrete products to the construction, home improvement and landscape markets since the 1890s.
Marshalls has become synonymous with quality; supplying prestigious landmarks such as Trafalgar Square, whilst also caring for the environment and communities in which it operates.
A new role has been created in the in-house legal and company secretarial department for a Corporate Paralegal.
The role will report to Marshall’s Group Company Secretary and General Counsel, and will involve a really varied range of responsibilities assisting with the department’s legal and corporate governance work.
You must have some experience of one or more of the areas of law and compliance which touch and concern the legal department – training, development and support will be provided on other matters where you have less or no experience.
The areas of law dealt with by the legal and company secretarial department include compliance with company law and regulatory matters applicable to a premium listed company, reviewing drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, general corporate work, pensions law and administration, share schemes and employee benefits and incentive schemes, data protection, privacy law, and anti-bribery and other regulatory law, together with some commercial dispute resolution, claims and litigation.
You will be ideally suited if you also already have some significant practical legal work experience of company law, corporate governance, and company secretarial work, data privacy and/or pensions, within a legal practice or another PLC or private company. You may already have a legal qualification, such as the LPC or BVC, or be studying to become a Legal Executive. A degree in law, or law and business, with a good classification, would be an advantage.
If you have all these attributes, together with first class written and spoken communication skills, and a willingness and ability to learn new things quickly, then a very exciting role awaits you. For the best candidate – one who blends enthusiasm, hard work and a commercial mind-set – there is a prospect of combining work with study, for example to become a solicitor or legal executive, and completing the practical stages of your professional training with Marshalls and its panel law firms.
If you feel you have the right attributes to fulfil this role, please send your CV to our exclusively retained recruitment consultant, Andy Balmer of Florit Brooke – Legal Recruitment, highlighting why you think you are particularly suited to this opportunity, and outlining your current salary and benefits package.
